Donald Sterling says he won’t sell team, then learns he may have to

Donald Sterling has no intention of selling the Clippers.

At least that’s what he told Fox News reporter Jim Gray just moments before Commissioner Adam Silver announced that he would urge the rest of the NBA owners to force Sterling to sell the team.

“He said ... the team is not for sale,” Gray said of Sterling. “He will not be selling the team.”

Of course, Sterling may not have a say in the matter if three-quarters of the owners vote in favor of such a move.

Early reaction on Twitter shows several owners — including Dallas’ Mark Cuban, Cleveland’s Dan Gilbert, Miami’s Micky Arison and Portland’s Paul Allen — support the commissioner’s moves.

But even if Sterling isn’t forced to sell the team, he will still be banned for life from any association with his own team, as well as with the entire league.

That doesn’t sound like much fun.
