The NHL assigned the Ducks a three-game road trip to start the 2013-14 season, with the team opening at Colorado on Oct. 2, then heading to Honda Center on Oct. 10 for its home opener against the New York Rangers.

The Ducks will play 11 of their first 16 games on the road, including a staggering eight-game road trip that includes stops at Toronto (Oct. 22), Montreal (Oct. 24), Ottawa (Oct. 25), Columbus (Oct. 27), Philadelphia (Oct. 29), Boston (Oct. 31), Buffalo (Nov. 2) and New York Rangers (Nov. 4).

The Ottawa game will reunite the Ducks with Bobby Ryan, the popular forward they traded this off-season.

NHL: Kings announce regular-season schedule

In announcing their 82-game regular-season schedule Friday, the defending Pacific Division-champion Ducks also noted their anticipated Jan. 25 Dodger Stadium game against the Kings.

In the seven-team Pacific Division, the Ducks will play five teams five times each, and four times against the other.

The Ducks and Kings will also play Dec. 3 and Jan. 23 at Honda Center and March 15 and April 12 at Staples Center. The Ducks’ regular season concludes April 13 at home vs. Colorado.

After bowing out in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs to Detroit, the Ducks will travel to play the Red Wings on Dec. 17 and reunite Jan. 12 at Honda Center.

Other “Original Six” home games will come Jan. 7 against Stanley Cup finalist Boston, Feb. 5 vs. Stanley Cup champion Chicago, March 5 vs. Montreal and March 10 vs. Toronto.

The NHL will break Feb. 9-26 for players to participate in the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

After one road game Feb. 8, the Ducks will resume a stretch of 12 home games in 14 dates by playing St. Louis on Feb. 28, Carolina on March 2, Montreal on March 5, Pittsburgh on March 7 and Toronto on March 10.

The team, as part of its 20thanniversary, announced it is planning a “throwback night” near the start of the season.
