Ducks goalie Viktor Fasth is sidelined with a lower body injury, Coach Bruce Boudreau announced following the team’s morning skate Friday at Honda Center.
Boudreau said Fasth was hurt at the end of Thursday’s practice. The team has called up goalie Frederik Andersen from minor-league affiliate Norfolk, and he should be on the bench by Friday night’s home game against the Phoenix Coyotes.
Jonas Hiller, 3-0, will start in goal Friday night for the Ducks.
On Wednesday, Fasth helped the Ducks to a 3-2 victory over the Calgary Flames by stopping 33 of 35 shots, and he was particularly superb in the third period, when he stopped 16 shots.
Boudreau did not specify when Fasth will be able to play again, saying only that the second-year goalie will accompany the team on its eight-game road trip that begins Tuesday in Toronto.
