Giancarlo Stanton shares photos of his beaning injury, recovery so far
Miami Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton, who suffered multiple facial fractures, dental damage and a facial cuts after being hit in the face by a pitch on Thursday, is eager to show he's on his way to recovery.
The NL MVP candidate shared two photos Tuesday on Instagram, one showing him soon after the beaning and one showing how he looks now. With the pictures he included this message: "The Aftermath ... Making huge progress!! Want to thank everyone who has played a part in my recovery process. Your kind messages, thoughts & prayers have meant the world to me. Pushing forward."
Stanton is not expected to return to the field again this season, and his next big test will come when he has to face live pitching again. You wouldn't blame him if he flinches a time or two, especially after seeing the "before" photo above.
