Olympians Greg Louganis and Janet Evans finally make the Wheaties box
Two of Southern California’s best-known Olympians will be featured on Wheaties boxes as the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games draw near.
Diver Greg Louganis and swimmer Janet Evans will join hurdler Edwin Moses on the “Legend” series of covers scheduled to appear in stores beginning next month.
“Officially been welcomed into the Orange Box Club!” Louganis tweeted on Tuesday morning.
In addition to being Southern California natives, Louganis and Evans have played prominent roles with the LA 2024 committee that is bidding to bring the Games back to Los Angeles in eight years.
Along with Moses, they were passed over by Wheaties during Olympic careers that featured a combined 10 gold medals and numerous world records.
“Some things are worth the wait,” Evans said on social media.
