The Cleveland Browns named Rob Chudzinski their new head coach on Thursday, replacing Pat Shurmur, who was fired Dec. 31 after the Browns finished 5-11 this season.

Chudzinski spent the last two seasons as Carolina’s offensive coordinator. He has had two previous stints with the Browns as an assistant coach. He coached tight ends in 2004 and was offensive coordinator from 2007-08. After his first stint on Cleveland’s staff, Chudzinski spent two seasons as San Diego’s tight ends coach.

Chudzinski will bring longtime coach Norv Turner as his offensive coordinator, FoxSports.com reported. Turner was fired last week as head coach of the Chargers after six years. Chudzinski was assistant head coach/tight ends coach under Turner before leaving for Carolina.
