Fred Jackson unharmed in car crash near Seahawks’ training facilities

Fred Jackson can still run, even if his car might not.

The Seattle Seahawks running back on Tuesday wrecked his black 2016 Chevrolet Corvette near the team’s headquarters in Renton, Wash., but emerged unhurt from the accident.

TMZ initially reported that the crash was the result of a street-racing incident involving fellow running back Marshawn Lynch. Jackson and others denied the report, and police said there was no evidence that racing led to the accident.

“He was leaving the facility, and he was clearly driving too fast when he hit a street sign,” Renton police spokesman David Liebman told the Seattle Times.

Jackson’s teammate Cliff Avril called the reports of racing a “lie.”

“All I’m saying is the facts aren’t what they are making them,” Avril tweeted.

Jackson, 34, signed a one-year deal with Seattle in September after he was released by the Buffalo Bills, where he’d spent all nine years of his NFL career.

In six games, he has rushed for 52 yards in 10 carries and caught 12 passes for 110 yards with one touchdown. He’s been limited by a high-ankle sprain suffered in a game against the Detroit Lions on Oct. 5.

Jackson had 30 career rushing touchdowns and gained 5,646 yards on the ground for the Bills from 2007-14. He also had seven receptions for scores and 2,640 receiving yards.

The Seahawks (2-4) are set to host the San Francisco 49ers (2-4) in an NFC West division match-up on Thursday night.
