UCLA football: Myles Jack has only one trade in Arizona State game

UCLA linebacker Myles Jack went back to being a one-way player Saturday, just not on defense.
Jack was a full-time running back in the 38-33 loss to Arizona State. He finished with 86 yards on 16 carries, including a three-yard touchdown run.
Coach Jim Mora said the decision to use Jack only on offense was made a week ago since the Bruins were going to be in a nickel defense for much of Saturday’s game.
“When we determined his value playing nickel linebacker, compared to having Erick Kendricks and Jordan Zumwalt in there, it made sense to get our best players on the field as much as we could,” Mora said. “We are hurting at running back. We felt like we needed him there.”
The Bruins were without Damien Thigpen (ankle) and Malcolm Jones (head injury). Jordon James (ankle) was in for one play against Arizona State.
Mora said that moving Jack to offense “was not permanent. We recruited Myles as a linebacker. His heart is at linebacker.”
Jack has rushed for 266 yards and scored six touchdowns in three games playing running back.
