Confusion over Usain Bolt skipping Rome meet
One thing seems certain: Usain Bolt will not race at a big Rome track meet in June.
The reason for him skipping the Diamond League circuit stop is less clear.
Organizers initially announced that the world’s fastest man was suffering from an injury. But Bolt’s agent told the Associated Press that his healthy client does not have a contract to compete in the event.
Meet director Luigi D’Onofrio responded up with a vague statement about the mix-up.
“We have been informed of the problems of Usain some days ago and we have been following with concern the evolution of the story, because of the agreement we had with his management,” D’Onofrio stated.
Bolt is scheduled to compete in the Czech Republic, France and Sweden later in the summer.
