USC basketball: Road games scheduled at New Mexico and Boston College

USC’s basketball team will play nonconference home games against Portland State, Tennessee Tech, Cal State Fullerton, Loyola Marymount, Utah State, Army and Vermont, and nonconference road games at New Mexico and Boston College as well as in the Charleston Classic tournament in South Carolina, the school announced.

The Trojans are hoping for improvement after finishing 11-21 and 2-16 in the Pac-12 Conference during Andy Enfield’s first season at USC.

Byron Wesley, the Trojans’ leading scorer last season, announced in May that he would transfer to Gonzaga.

USC opens Nov. 15 against Portland State and then plays Tennessee Tech Nov. 17 before playing Akron in the first game of the Charleston Classic on Nov. 20. USC’s second-round game will be against Miami or Drexel. The Trojans could play Penn State, Charlotte, Cornell or South Carolina in their final game of the tournament.

USC plays at New Mexico on Nov. 30, at Boston College Dec. 21.

USC opens Pac-12 play Jan. 2 at Colorado.
