Update: USC (10-5 overall, 1-1 in Pac-12 Conference play) will be without junior Chimezie Metu in the first half. He was suspended for the half and stripped of his captaincy after striking Washington State’s Carter Skaggs in the groin during Sunday’s game. Metu also wrote a letter of apology.... USC junior De’Anthony Melton is expected to miss his 16th game this season because of his alleged connection to the college basketball bribery probe.... Cal (7-7, 1-0) rallied from a 17-point deficit to defeat Stanford last week. But the Golden Bears have struggled this season, dropping home games to teams such as Central Arkansas and UC Riverside. ... USC leads the Pac-12 with 16.6 assists per game.
