Tim Bogar leaves Angels organization for job as Rangers bench coach

Tim Bogar, who managed the Angels’ double-A Arkansas team to the Texas League championship series this past season, left the organization on Monday to become the bench coach on Texas Rangers Manager Ron Washington’s staff.
Bogar, a former big league infielder who was believed to be a candidate for the Angels’ third-base coach job, spent 2009-2012 as a Boston Red Sox coach. He replaces Jackie Moore, who was let go by the Rangers after the season.
Bogar is one of several recent player development departures for the Angels, who let go of roving minor league catching coordinator Orlando Mercado, Arkansas hitting coach Ernie Young, Class-A Inland Empire Manager Bill Haselman and pitching coach Brandon Emanuel, and Class-A Burlington (Iowa) Manager Jamie Burke and pitching coach Trevor Wilson.
In addition, major league scout Jeff Schugel, who spent nine years with the organization and is the father of Angels pitching prospect A.J. Schugel, has resigned to pursue opportunities with other teams.
