2005 Régis Bouvier Marsannay Clos du Roy
Here’s a wonderful Marsannay from the lieu dit (named vineyard) Clos du Roy at the top of Burgundy’s Côte-de-Nuits. It’ll knock your socks off, considering it’s less than $30. If this is any indication of the quality of the 2005 vintage, start buying up beautiful village wines such as this one. Soft and lush, the Clos du Roy tastes of cherries and earth, something dark and something sweet. This is the wine for a perfect roast chicken or one cooked grandmother style -- with bacon and pearl onions. Open a bottle for a mushroom omelet or a cheese plate too. This Pinot will suit almost any occasion.
