Las Vegas: SLS hotel to debut on the Strip on Labor Day weekend
The Southland will meet the Las Vegas Strip when the 1,600-room SLS Las Vegas celebrates its grand opening Aug. 29, just in time for Labor Day weekend
L.A.-based sbe Entertainment Group, whose properties include the Abbey nightclub in West Hollywood and the Redbury Hotel in Hollywood, is the company behind SLS, which has a sister hotel of the same name in Beverly Hills.
The hip Vegas resort is being carved out of the legendary Sahara Hotel, which closed in May 2011.
SLS Las Vegas is planning to incorporate dining and nightlife options already familiar to many Southlanders. Restaurants are to include desert outposts of 800 Degrees, the Bazaar by Jose Andres, Griddle Cafe, Katsuya and Umami Burger.
The resort is also to feature a reinvention of the Sayers Club, an L.A. nightspot.
Labor Day Weekend has been scheduled for the grand opening, but a soft opening is planned for over the summer. The timing has yet to be announced.
The hotel is expected to begin accepting reservations in the spring.
SLS will be the second new hotel-casino to open along Las Vegas Boulevard in 2014. The Cromwell is scheduled to open this spring.
