Tour of the South highlights 1960s civil rights movement

Travel through the South on a family-friendly tour that focuses on the 1960s civil-rights movement. The program, offered by Distant Horizons, begins in Jackson, Miss., at the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum.

Among the highlights are meeting a member of the Little Rock Nine in Arkansas, touring the National Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tenn., and meeting a survivor of the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing in Birmingham, Ala.

The tour ends in Montgomery, Ala., with visits to the new National Memorial for Peace and Justice and the Legacy Museum.

Price: $3,700 per person, double occupancy. Includes accommodations, most meals, sightseeing, subject experts, transportation tour manager and gratuities. Airfare not included.
