Downtown is always crowded on First Fridays, but that doesn’t mean people don’t party there other days of the month.

Dino’s

Verdict: A slightly gritty bar with a small stage, pool tables and an older, more mature crowd compared with most of its downtown counterparts. Rock and zydeco are the favored musical genres on First Fridays, though it changes from month to month.

The Ice House Lounge

The details: 650 S. Main St.; (702) 315-2570; https://www.icehouselounge.com ; doors open at 5 p.m.

Verdict: On First Fridays, the lounge is a swank, two-story affair with an outdoor patio. Cover bands Pop Culture and Blues Storm play pop hits from the past and present and blues, respectively.

The Bunkhouse Saloon

Verdict: A hodgepodge of cowboy-inspired art and photos from old westerns makes this an oddly cozy venue. Full kitchen, bar and a variety of musical genres are available on First Fridays.

Art Bar

The details: 1511 S. Main St.; (702) 437-2787; https://www.myspace.com/lasvegasartbar . Doors open at 10 p.m.

Verdict: A favorite hangout among hipsters. The bright paintings may be a bit cheesy, but their kitsch effect perfectly complements the city. Out-of-town bands are occasionally booked for First Friday. The sound tends to be rock or alt-rock.

Hogs and Heifers Saloon

The details: 201 N. 3rd St.; (702) 676-1457; https://www.hogsandheifers.com . Doors open at 1 p.m.

Verdict: It has a rough-and-tumble biker-bar veneer (and 65 feet of designated biker parking out front), but don’t worry: You won’t get beaten up. Tip: Stop by on every fourth Sunday of the month for delicious barbecue and live music.
