Flash sales for travelers: L.A.-Atlanta airfares and New York City hotels

Share

Flash sales are great but often they’re over before you’ve heard about them.

Here’s advance notice on two that will work for bargain-hunters flying from L.A. to Atlanta or seeking a New York City hotel deal.

Southwest Airlines: The sale launched Monday is supposed to show some “luv” for Atlanta customers, but Angelenos can get in on the savings too. Southwest rolled out low prices on flights to and from Altanta for several destinations, including Los Angeles.

The airline is offering $99 one-way nonstop airfares between Los Angeles (LAX) and Atlanta (ATL). You have to travel on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between Feb. 24 and May 20, and some blackout dates apply.

I checked dates in mid-May and found a $196 round-trip fare; the lowest nonstop airfare on Kayak.com shows $305 round-trip for the same time-frame.

The sale is on now and ends Feb. 11. Info: Southwest Airlines

Triumph Hotels: The brand with six New York City hotels turns 1 this month and is celebrating with a one-day sale.

The Iroquois New York at 49 W. 44th St., the Cosmopolitan Hotel Tribeca at 95 W. Broadway and the Evelyn at 7 E. 27th St. are all part of the Triumph family.

Book a room on Wednesday, Feb. 11, and you’ll receive 25% off a one- or two-night stay and 30% off three nights or more. The deal is good for stays through the end of the year, and blackout dates apply.

The sale hasn’t started, but you can estimate the savings based on these regular room prices (they vary seasonally): $279 to $389 at the Iroquois, $209 to $369 at the Cosmopolitan, and $239 to $409 at the Evelyn.
