Travel company SpaFinder is marking its 25th anniversary with special rates on high-end stays at several resorts in California, Mexico and the East Coast. The cost is pricey -- $2,500 for two -- but might appeal to those looking for a splurge with some savings.

The drill: SpaFinder sells coupons for packages that travelers then redeem with the resort. Check coupon redemption and blackout dates and any other restrictions before you buy to make sure this deal will work for you.

The deal: I chose to check out an upcoming $2,500 offer for Bernardus Lodge (415 W. Carmel Valley Road, Carmel Valley; [831] 658-3400). Here’s some, though not all, of what’s in the package:

--Three nights in a Santa Lucia or Croquet room (usually $1,725);
--A 100-minute Vineyard Romance couples treatment ($470);
--Two 50-minute spa treatments ($280);
--Two robes ($320);
--VIP tasting passes to Bernardus Winery ($50)
--Daily breakfast for two ($150); and
--A six-course tasting dinner with wine ($600).

When: The coupon will be on sale starting Friday until Nov. 18. It’s good for stays until March 18, but reservations must be made by Feb. 18.

Tested: To check this deal, I requested and received from SpaFinder a cost breakdown, above, that estimates $4,000 for a comparable stay at Bernardus Lodge. Bottom line: Pricey pampering doesn’t come cheap, even with a big discount, but you’re worth it, right?
