Costumed runners will splash and crawl through two dozen mud and water obstacles at the Temecula Mud Run April 21. The inaugural event will be at Galway Downs, a 260-acre equestrian events center just east of Temecula off of Highway 79S. Entry fees are $60 for adults and $20 for kids ages 5–17. Mountain High Resort in Wrightwood reopens Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. after this week’s storm dropped 4 inches of snow -- with more expected . . . . Vail Resorts Inc. has closed on its acquisition of Kirkwood Mountain Resort at Lake Tahoe. The company now operates three major mountain resorts in the Lake Tahoe region, including Heavenly Mountain and Northstar California . . . . Experience live performances and installation art along a guided two-hour hike at Donner Ski Ranch, Sept. 8 and 9. Tickets go on sale July 1 at www.trailsandvistas.org (yes, we’ll remind you) . . . . The tiny town of Kanarraville, along the Interstate 15 outside of Zion National Park, and about a day’s drive from L.A., is touting itself as a great spot to view the upcoming May 20 annular eclipse. The eclipse is expected to produce a “ring of fire” as the moon passes in front of the sun, visible only in a narrow path that passes across a remote swath of the Southwest . . . . The Hotel Indigo San Diego Del Mar has reopened after a multimillion-dollar renovation. The 94-room hotel in downtown Del Mar boasts a day-spa, two pools, hot tub, sauna and bistro-style restaurant with a full bar . . . . West Inn & Suites in Carlsbad has been chosen as one of the top 25 small hotels and motels for families by TripAdvisor in its 2012 Travelers’ Choice awards . . . . The French Quarter Festival kicked off Thursday with a performance by the Grammy-winning Rebirth Brass Band. Hundreds of Louisiana musicians will perform through Sunday . . . . Mauiva has launched a third AirCruise itinerary, the “Sun & Fun Experience,” a seven-day vacation package via private plane that travels to three destinations throughout the Caribbean and the Bahamas. An all-inclusive option, including flights, food and attractions, lists at $1,999 per person. A plan featuring flights and accommodations only goes for $1,449 . . . .
