Cheer up, San Diego. Here are some weekend fireworks to go see

San Diego, there are worse things than an epic fireworks failure. I say hop in the car, pack up the kids and hit the road to forget about the Big Bay Boom fireworks display that accidentally blasted through all the dazzle in less than half a minute on Wednesday night.

Garden State Fireworks of New Jersey apologized and promised to make good on a future fireworks show.

Until then, here are places where San Diegans can turn the clock back and party like it’s July 4, 2012. Shaver Lake near Yosemite, Crestline in the San Bernardino Mountains and Fort Bragg near Mendocino will be shooting off their firepower on Saturday night. Just bring your oohs and aahs.

--The little mountain village of Crestline will shoot off fireworks at 9 p.m. Saturday night over Lake Gregory. It costs $5 to get a spot on the beach, which opens to visitors at 5:30 p.m. The light show is part of the ongoing Crestline Jamboree, which also features a parade at 10 a.m. and an Art and Wine in the Pines wine tasting starting at 2 p.m.

--Shaver Lake in the Sierra National Forest northeast of Fresno will be shooting off fireworks on Saturday night. The lake features a boat parade (anyone who can decorate a boat can enter for free) and fireworks launched from an island that makes them visible all around the lake. The boat parade starts at 6 p.m. followed by fireworks.

--Fort Bragg claims that it will have the world’s largest salmon barbecue on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., for $25 per person. After that, head to Noyo Harbor Bridge or Pomo Bluffs Park to see the light show. Depending on where you park, you might have to pay a $5 fee, which goes to the cost of the fireworks.
