One of Mexico’s most popular singers brings his Latin flair to the Mandalay Bay Events Center on Saturday, Sept. 12. Five-time Grammy Award-winning Latin pop star Luis Miguel helps kick off Mexican Independence Day early.

Dubbed El Sol de México or The Sun of Mexico, Miguel won his first Grammy at 12 with Sheena Easton for “Me Gustas Tal Como Eres.” His three decade career brought him 34 platinum albums in South and Central America, and he earned the title of the first Latino musician to have two Spanish language albums go platinum in the United States.

Miguel didn’t make it to international stardom until 1990, when his album “20 Años” led to sold-out shows in Mexico and beyond and 600,000 album sales in that first week of release.

His 1991 album “Romance” featured boleros from the 1950s and became his biggest selling album.

His eponymous album came out in 2010 and went platinum in four countries within three days of its release.

Miguel’s biggest hits include “Por Debajo de la Mesa,” “Hasta Que Me Olvides” and “La Incondicional.”

He joins a Mandalay Bay Events Center Mexican Independence Day lineup that include Juan Gabriel on Sunday, Sept. 13, Marc Anthony and Carlos Vives on Monday, Sept. 14, and Alejandro Fernandez on Tuesday, Sept. 15.
Tickets start at $69 and go on sale on Friday, July 31.
