Release of day labor hiring list protested
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
The ACLU filed a lawsuit Friday seeking to block the city from releasing the names, addresses and phone numbers of people who have registered to hire day laborers.
In its suit, filed in San Diego County Superior Court, the ACLU claims that the information might be used by anti-illegal immigration activists to harass people who hire day laborers.
A hearing is set for Monday on the group’s request for a temporary restraining order.
