Core Media Group taps NFL’s Kim Williams for CFO position

Core Media Group, the production company headed by former NBC executive Marc Graboff, has tapped a top NFL executive for a senior position.

Kim Williams, who had been chief operating officer for the NFL Network, the league’s cable channel, is expected to join Core Media as its chief financial officer. An official announcement of the hire could come as early as this week.

Formerly known as CKX, Core Media Group is the parent of 19 Entertainment, a TV producer whose credits include Fox’s “American Idol”and “So You Think You Can Dance.” Core also recently acquired reality producer Sharp Entertainment, whose programs include TLC’s “Extreme Couponing,” Animal Planet‘s “Call of the Wildman” and Travel Channel‘s “Man V. Food.” In addition, Core owns the licensing rights to the names and images of Elvis Presley and Muhammad Ali and operates Graceland.

Core is also in the running for Dick Clark Productions, the production company that holds the rights to several high profile awards shows including the Golden Globes.

Graboff and Williams have long ties. She worked with him at NBC when he was a top executive overseeing the network’s West Coast business operations. Williams was a senior vice president and chief financial officer of NBC West Coast a decade ago. She left NBC in 2003 for a series of high level posts at the NFL.
