The philosophical son of actors Will and Jada Smith explained the outfit's presence on both occasions -- though he didn't necessarily provide any in-depth answers.
"I wore the Batman suit to heighten my experience at the wedding and [at] prom, which was fun," the "After Earth" star told GQ.com. "But also, at the wedding, I felt as though I needed to protect everyone there, and needed to have the proper gear to do so."
Because nothing says "fear me" quite like a white polyester jumpsuit.
This from the guy who has also donned an Iron Man suit as daywear and says his style icons are the Caped Crusader, his sidekick Robin, Robin's later incarnation Nightwing, Superman and -- lest we forget -- Kanye. The Kid's giving the rapper-designer a run for the vainglorious money.
"I like wearing super drapey things so I can feel as though I'm a superhero, but don't have to necessarily wear superhero costumes every day," he added.
Well, that's a relief.
