GETTING LASHED

Special to The Times

With products such as California Kissin’ lip gloss and Some Kind-a Gorgeous foundation, it’s easy to see why girls turn to Benefit when they want to groom. Now those who swear by the San Francisco line of bath and body goodies can rejoice that they have a whole store to call their own. Started by twins Jean and Jane Ford over three decades ago, Benefit has amassed a cult-like following by offering no-nonsense, high-glamour products that also correct some of beauty’s worst predicaments. Boo Boo Zap! ($20) promises to fight blemishes at “lightning speed”; the chubby Eye Bright pencil ($18) is a real-life airbrush for days when a double espresso is nowhere to be found. Fans can get not only makeovers in the cozy shop, but also walk-in waxing treatments (starting at $9) that promise to leave brow and body smoother than Jamie Foxx after a stiff cocktail or two. Lash tinting is also available ($18), but those who want to go a less permanent route can pick up a tube of the bestselling BadGal Lash mascara ($19), the closest thing to a custom set of falsies that $20 can buy. 8387 W. 3rd St., Los Angeles; (323) 944-0600. Weekdays 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday to 5 p.m. www.benefitcosmetics.com

OPENINGS

Crooks & Castles: It’s usually the hero who gets the glory, but in the minds of Crooks & Castles designers Dennis Calvero and Robert Panlilo, the villain takes center stage. An urban line of high-end sweat shirts, hats, jeans and T-shirts takes its cue from the Los Angeles street scene of the ‘80s and ‘90s. Fans include Kanye West and Jay-Z, who will have no trouble feeling at home in the shop’s VIP room. For the rest of us, an always-changing art exhibit featuring works by Andy Warhol is a nice consolation prize. 8021 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles; (323) 951-0730. 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday-Saturday; noon to 7 p.m. Sunday, www.crooksncastles.com.

Foley + Corinna: If you can join the likes of Oscar de la Renta on the list of designers who’ve been copied by Forever 21, you know you’ve arrived on the fashion scene. Such is the case of New York duo Dana Foley and Anna Corinna, whose fluid evening dress was re-created by the discount giant last summer. The ladies will further their flirty, vintage-inspired style with the opening of their first West Coast boutique. Gwen Stefani and Scarlett Johansson are among the fans, and although the “It” bag may be no more, it’s a safe bet that Foley & Corinna’s stylish Le Tote will be among Hollywood’s latest arm candy. 8117 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles; (323) 944-0169. 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Saturday; noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
