State legislative panels approve major funding boost for Cal State

Cal State University could receive funding to enroll 11,000 more students this year under proposals approved by both state Senate and Assembly subcommittees. The 23-campus system had to turn away 32,000 eligible students from their chosen schools last year because they was no room for them.
