Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie will divorce after two years of marriage

Celebrities were deep in their feelings Tuesday morning, after learning that Angelina Jolie Pitt had filed for divorce from longtime partner Brad Pitt, and they took to the Internet try to process their many emotions.

The couple had been together for 11 years and married in August 2014. They have six children, of whom Jolie Pitt has requested physical custody.

The children were the primary concern of actress Jamie Lee Curtis. Curtis appeared Tuesday morning on ABC’s talk show “The View” to promote the upcoming season of her Fox series “Scream Queens,” and when asked about the celebrity breakup, she urged the audience not to support tabloid outlets that sought to profit off the family’s struggle.

“Do not support the public shaming of people who are public figures going through a divorce,” Curtis said. “I am a child of it, and I can tell you it’s heartbreaking and painful enough without having to have a public scrutiny of it.”

Curtis’ parents, Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh, Hollywood luminaries in their own right, divorced in 1962.

Jolie Pitt’s father, actor Jon Voight, told Inside Edition that he wasn’t privy to why his daughter had filed for divorce, but said, “It’s very sad. Say a little prayer,” before going on to say that he was concerned for his daughter and her children.

However, it’s possible no one used the Jolie-Pitt news as well as Timothy Simons of HBO’s “Veep,” who took the Internet fervor as an opportunity to admit unsavory things about himself, under the premise that no one would notice.
