A Brea Olinda High School math teacher has been accused of having sex with a male high school student she was tutoring.

Michelle Lynn Johnson, 45, of Anaheim was charged Tuesday with nine felony counts. Some of the alleged crimes occurred at the high school and some away from campus, prosecutors said. The alleged victim is 17.

Johnson, who has been placed on leave, is to be arraigned Wednesday; she is free on $20,000 bail.

Johnson is at least the fourth female teacher in Southern California charged this year with sexually assaulting a boy she taught.

The alleged unlawful sexual relationship occurred between April and June.

Authorities initiated the investigation when the boy’s parents contacted police after becoming suspicious of the relationship between Johnson and their son.

If convicted, Johnson faces a maximum sentence of eight years and four months in state prison.
