Compton woman crashes on overpass, dies
A 23-year-old Compton woman died Sunday when she crashed on the La Cienega Boulevard overpass at the 405 Freeway in Inglewood, officials said.
Police said Tameka Ballou was driving south on La Cienega just north of Florence Avenue about 2:20 a.m. when she lost control of her car.
A 23-year-old female passenger was injured; she was taken to a hospital and was in stable condition, police said.
“It’s unknown if [Ballou] was going to transition and get onto the 405,” said Inglewood Police Lt. Steve Overlyhe. “There’s a little bit of a bend in the road there. . . . She may have hit the curb and some of the side railing.”
Ballou died at the scene. No other vehicles were involved.
