Oil pans

Editorial cartoons about oil haven’t changed much in decades. We regularly lament the price of regular. We beat the drum on dependence, clamor for alternatives, get cantankerous over tankers, and rant about drilling, profits and pipelines. We get a lot of mileage out of blasting Big Auto and promoting public transportation.

So with a gallon priced at north of 3 bucks and slicks spoiling San Francisco Bay and the too-aptly named Black Sea, we piped up yet again. Rob Rogers flipped a crude-soaked bird to SUV owners. Matt Bors’ invective on mpg inefficiency featured a classic drive, and Nick Anderson’s classic MGM feature drove home the big picture on energy. I suppose I might’ve come up with that, but I was out conferrin’ with the flowers.
