At least one person was hospitalized for a drug overdose after a rave Saturday night called the Nocturnal Festival drew about 20,000 people to the area of 8th and Figueroa streets in downtown Los Angeles.

Authorities have conflicting information on how many people were taken to the hospital for drug overdoses during the concert. Los Angeles Police Officer Norma Eisenman said the number could be as high as 30, but deferred to city fire officials, who said the number could be as low as one.

“We had a unit standing by throughout the rave, and we transported one patient” to California Hospital Medical Center, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Bill Godfrey. “We had a couple false alarms in that general vicinity, and that was about it.”

Police said they made at least one arrest on drug charges and that the concert was a permitted event. The Nocturnal Festival has been running for more than a decade.
