Boys’ basketball: St. John Bosco wins in double overtime

Tyler Dorsey returned to the court on Friday night for St. John Bosco after missing two games to focus on academics, and the Braves definitely needed him. They pulled out a 74-71 double-overtime victory over Santa Margarita in a Trinity League game.

St. John Bosco played without Daniel Hamilton, who was sick. Dorsey finished with 25 points, eight rebounds and nine assists. Vance Jackson added 22 points. Mater Dei (20-0) defeated JSerra, 69-39. Stanley Johnson had 24 points and 11 rebounds. La’vette Parker had 14 points. Orange Lutheran defeated Servite, 57-42. Rogers Printup had 13 points, Keisean Lucier-South 12 and CJ Hankins 12.

In the Mission League, Jack Williams had 29 points and 14 rebounds to help Chaminade hand Alemany its first league defeat, 63-60. Loyola defeated Harvard-Westlake, 80-39. Max Hazzard scored 21 points and Parker Jackson-Cartwright had 12 assists. Austin Hatch made a three-pointer in the fourth quarter. St. Francis defeated Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, 68-56. Kyle Leufroy and Evan Crawford each had 15 points.

In the Baseline League, Etiwanda defeated Glendora, 66-24. Jordan McLauglin had 21 points. Rancho Cucamonga defeaed Alta Loma, 80-50. Daylan Lawrence contributed 19 points.

In the Marmonte League, Westlake improved to 8-0 in league with a 60-45 win over Simi Valley. All of Westlake’s starters reached double figures, led by Jeremiah Gray’s 12 points. Calabasas defeated Moorpark, 69-29. Jeremy Lieberman had 19 points. Newbury Park defeated Royal, 65-46. Tyler Cartaino had 16 points. Thousand Oaks defeated Agoura, 79-53. Matt Hauser scored 35 points.

In the Foothill League, Lewis Stallworth scored 28 points in Hart’s 88-68 win over Valencia. Canyon defeated Saugus, 47-37. West Ranch defeated Golden Valley, 82-70. In the Pacific League, Burroughs defeated Burbank, 68-48.

In the Ocean League, Inglewood defeated Beverly Hills, 76-75, in double overtime. Jonah Mathews scored 24 points in Santa Monica’s 67-38 win over Morningside.

In the Sierra League, freshman LiAngelo Ball had 21 points in Chino Hills’ 89-41 win over Claremont. Damien (18-3, 4-0) defeated South Hills, 66-49. Jeremy Hemsley scored 24 points. Chino Hills plays at Damien on Wednesday night.

In the Prep League, Flintridge Prep defeated Chadwick, 61-60, in double overtime. Andrew Tsangeos, who had 30 points, made the game-winning three-pointer as time expired. Robert Cartwright had 15 points.

In the Tri-Valley League, Oaks Christian defeated Bishop Diego, 63-44. Alex Chinian had 17 points.

In the Del Rey League, Gardena Serra defeated St. Bernard, 49-43. Tavrion Dawson scored 21 points and had eight rebounds.

In the Bay League, Redondo defeated Palos Verdes, 61-55. Terrell Carter scored 15 points. Ian Fox, returning from an injury, had four points in about 10 minutes of action.
