Elliot Smith-Hastie of Loyola is named Gatorade state player of the year in soccer

Elliot Smith-Hastie, who led Loyola to the Southern Section Division 1 championship in soccer and a Division I Southern California Regional title, has been selected the Gatorade state player of the year.

He’s the first player from Loyola to receive the award.

He scored 22 goals and had 17 assists and finished his prep career with 39 goals and 30 assists. He has a 3.75 grade-point average and specializes in photography.

He’s headed to Boston College in the fall.
