Football: Sophomore QB J.T. Daniels named Gatorade state player of the year
Sophomore QB has passed for 40 TDs in seven games
Sophomore quarterback J.T. Daniels of Santa Ana Mater Dei has been selected the Gatorade state player of the year in football.
It’s quite an achievement for a sophomore, but Daniels had a season that even surpassed former Mater Dei greats Matt Barkley and Matt Leinart.
He passed for 4,849 yards and 67 touchdowns, leading the Monarchs to a 13-1 record. He completed 75% of his passes. He also maintained a 4.14 grade-point average.
