Miami WR Mike Wallace doesn’t understand homosexuality, he tweets

Share

When NBA center Jason Collins became the first male athlete still active in a major professional sport to come out as gay, many fellow sports figures immediately offered their support on Twitter.

Miami Dolphins $60-million receiver Mike Wallace was not one of them. Instead, about an hour or so after Collins’ revelation on Monday, he tweeted a comment basically expressing general confusion over the concept of homosexuality.

He did not mention Collins by name but said that he was shaking his head that “guys wanna mess with guys” even though there are “all these beautiful women in the world.”

Wallace’s tweet got plenty of attention real quick, most of it negative. So he attempted to clarify his comment four minutes later, saying he wasn’t “bashing anybody” but “I just don’t understand it.”

Soon after, both messages were deleted from his feed. Instead, he offered this apology:

Never said anything was right or wrong I just said I don’t understand!! Deeply sorry for anyone that I offended — Mike Wallace (@Wallace17_daKid) April 29, 2013

So Wallace basically just randomly decided to let the world know he doesn’t understand homosexuality.

Whatever. Seems like he picked a funny time to do it though, just on the heels of Collins’ historic announcement.
