Las Vegas

Nov. 12-13: At Aviation Nation, the Air Force’s premier annual air show, aeronautics fans can take in world-class air racing, aerobatics, military aircraft demonstration teams (including the Air Force Thunderbirds), precision parachute maneuvers and top civilian air performers. There will also be a display of hundreds of aircraft, many of them open for touring -- from a World War I biplane through World War II-era fighters and bombers to the latest stealth craft. Special events this year will kick off Operation Welcome Home, a yearlong celebration to recognize America’s 2.7 million Vietnam veterans.

Nellis Air Force Base, Las Vegas. Air show, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days; free admission. Free parking at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, 7000 Las Vegas Blvd. North; shuttle bus to base, $2 per person round trip, children younger than 10, free. (702) 813-4293, www.aviationnation.org.

Nov. 12-13: The Heard Museum’s annual Spanish Market will showcase about 70 Latino artists from Arizona and New Mexico who create paintings, sculpture, pottery, jewelry, furniture, santos and other works, at prices from less than $10 to more than $1,000. This year’s artist in residence is Hector Ruiz, a painter, woodcarver, printmaker and papier-mache artisan. He’ll be in an on-site studio, where visitors can watch him work and are encouraged to ask questions.

Ongoing: The San Francisco Museum of Craft+Design has just uncorked the exhibition (through Jan. 29) “Beyond the Pour: Pairing Art and Wine Label Design,” documenting the evolution of several Northern California wineries’ labels (as well as bottles, capsules, corks and marketing materials) in displays provided by their artists and designers. It’s sort of a sideways approach to oenophilia.
