Former Masters champion George Archer and 1981 Canadian Open champion Peter Oosterhuis shared the lead with Whitworth at 10 under par for three days of play on three Monterey Penninsula golf courses.

“I felt good about the way I was hitting the ball,” she said. “It’s the best round, by far, I’ve ever had at Pebble Beach. The tees are set up for the women, and my chances for winning are good if the the weather doesn’t deteriorate.”

Bob Eastwood, who held the 36-hole lead at 134, bogeyed the next-to-last hole at Pebble Beach and finished with a 72 for a 206 total. Eastwood shared the runner-up spot with Tim Norris, who had a 70 at Del Monte.

All five women professionals in the field made the cut of 226 for the final round of play today at Pebble Beach.
