Long Beach
Texaco Inc. has donated $10,000 to the Los Angeles Firemen’s Relief Assn. to thank the Fire Department for its work on two recent fires at the company’s Wilmington refinery.
Texaco plant manager Dan Maffucci gave the check to association President William Burnidge at a Long Beach luncheon for top Fire Department officers.
The money will go to a fund for disabled firefighters and firefighters’ widows and orphans, Burnidge said.
About 175 firefighters with 38 engine companies fought a 23-hour blaze on Dec. 26. The other Texaco refinery fire, on Dec. 3, was extinguished after 3 1/2 hours.
