Driver Sought in Fatal Hit-Run Crash

Share

California Highway Patrol officers launched a search for a hit-and-run driver who caused a tractor-trailer rig to jackknife and crash, killing the truck driver, on the San Bernardino Freeway in El Monte. The driver, whose name was not released, died after being trapped in his rig following the crash near Valley Boulevard west of the San Gabriel River Valley Freeway, CHP Officer Robert Pike said. Authorities were searching for a car that apparently forced the truck out of control. After the truck jackknifed, it crashed into the center divider, blocking the fast lanes in both directions for several hours.
