Rookie Michael Jordan had 35 points, 14 rebounds and 15 assists Monday night at Chicago, leading the Bulls to a 122-113 National Basketball Assn. victory over the Denver Nuggets.

“They kind of didn’t pay much attention to me at first, so I passed off and got some boards,” said Jordan, who had only nine points in the first half. “In the second half, I was able to sneak up on them and score a lot.”

Jordan scored six points in a critical stretch in the closing minutes to help Chicago, which trailed by a point entering the final period, seal the win.

“I would have to say it was Michael’s best game of the year,” Chicago Coach Kevin Loughery said.

Steve Johnson added 22 points and Dave Corzine 20 for the Bulls.

Denver, which shot only 45% for the game, was led by Alex English’s 25 points.

Washington 101, Cleveland 91--Greg Ballard scored 28 points and Jeff Malone added 21 to lift the Bullets to the win at Richfield, Ohio.

Ballard, who made 13 of 17 shots, snapped a 71-71 tie by sinking a three-point field goal to end the third quarter. The Cavaliers, whose Johnny Davis missed the second half with a strained left calf, soon fell behind and never got closer than four points.

Gus Williams added 13 points and 10 assists for the Bullets, and Jeff Ruland had 13 rebounds. World B. Free led the Cavaliers with 21 points. Roy Hinson had 18.
