Flutie to Play for USFL Generals
Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Doug Flutie of Boston College said today that he has agreed to a long-term contract with the New Jersey Generals of the United States Football League.
It could make him the highest paid player in pro football and the highest paid rookie in any sport. The 5-9 3/4 Boston College player, major-college football’s career passing and total offense leader, said he had “no regrets at all” about bypassing the more established National Football League. His contract is believed to be worth at least $7 million over at least five years.
