UCLA Women Beat Arizona State, 97-61

Junior Anne Dean came off the bench in the first five minutes and went on to score 26 points to lead the UCLA women’s basketball team to a 97-61 Western Collegiate Athletic Assn. victory over Arizona State at Tempe, Ariz., Friday night.
Dean, a 5-10 guard, made 11 of 18 field goals and pulled down eight rebounds, while freshman guard Jaime Brown scored 20 points in her first start. The Bruins shot 51% from the floor and out-rebounded ASU, 60-39, while limiting the Sun Devils to a 30% shooting effort. Sophomore forward Sherry Poole led ASU with 19 points.
UCLA improved its record to 10-7 overall and 1-3 in the WCAA, while the Sun Devils dropped to 8-8 overall and 0-3 in conference play. The Bruins will face Arizona at Tucson tonight.
