J. Gear McEntyre; Ex-Consul General
J. Gear McEntyre, consul general of Canada in Los Angeles from 1966 to 1974, has died in Montreal, it has been learned. He was 72 and died of a respiratory ailment.
An attorney, McEntyre first joined the Canadian government in 1942, rising to deputy minister of taxation. After leaving Los Angeles, he became a member of the Canadian delegation to the U.N. General Assembly and was chairman of the Canadian Trade and Tariffs Committee. He died Dec. 30.
