Jane Blalock bogied her final hole Thursday to drop into a tie with Cathy Morse at five-under-par 67 after one round in the $200,000 LPGA Elizabeth Arden golf tournament at Turnberry Isle Country Club.

Blalock, who started on the back nine of the 6,092-yard South Course, could have been alone in first heading into the second round if she had made a four-foot putt on the final hole.

Blalock and Morse are two strokes up on defending champion Patty Sheehan, Janet Coles and Debbie Massey, who all came in at 69.

Five more golfers--Pat Bradley, Alice Miller, Sharon Turner, Marci Bozarth, JoAnne Carner--are another stroke back at 70.

Morse, whose 67 equaled her lowest round on the tour, put her score on the board early, and Blalock was the only one to come close to her all day.
