Prep Basketball BOYS : Channel Isles 67, Newbury Park 63

Newbury Park High nearly upset Channel Islands, outscoring the Raiders in three of the four periods. But Channel Islands outscored the Panthers, 21-9, in the third quarter for the margin of victory.

Channel Islands improved to 5-3 in the Marmonte League, good enough for a tie with Westlake for third place. The Raiders are 11-7 overall. Newbury fell to 2-6 and 5-12.

James Curtis scored 19 points for Channel Islands, and Mark Schlegel scored 20 points and Chad Staples added 19 for Newbury Park.
