Share

Golden West College used a delay offense Wednesday night in an effort to upset Mt. San Antonio, but the tactic failed as the Mounties gained a 20-10 victory over the Rustlers in South Coast Conference play at Walnut.

The victory kept Mt. San Antonio (9-1 in conference, 22-2 overall) in a first-place tie with Cerritos. The loss was the 11th straight for last-place Golden West (0-10, 7-16).

Golden West did not attempt a shot from the field until 12 minutes had expired and were tied, 4-4, with Mt. San Antonio at halftime. The game was still tied, 6-6, eight minutes into the second half when a three-point play by Mt. SAC center Larry Richard gave the Mounties the lead for good at 9-6.
