West Los Angeles Cagers Will Try to End Losing Streak at 11

The West Los Angeles College basketball team, having set a school record by losing its last 11 games, will host Antelope Valley at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Veterans Memorial Auditorium, Overland Avenue and Jefferson Boulevard.

The Oilers (5-15, 0-5) are in last place while Antelope Valley (12-13, 2-3) is in fourth in the Mountain Valley Conference.

Antelope Valley has strong scorers in guards Lonnie Keene (averaging 12.7 points a game) and Terry Wheaton (10). Center Darryl Lewis is the team’s top rebounder (9.8 average).

The Oilers’ top scorer is guard Angelo Hudson (15.9 average), followed by center Robert Bloom (11.5). Rebounding is being handled by forward Wayne King, averaging seven a game, and Bloom (6.2).

Last week the Oilers lost to College of the Canyons, 59-47, and were outscored in the second half, 30-10.

The Oilers are allowing opponents 68.2 points a game while scoring only 59.9.
