Chapman Holds Off Cal Lutheran, 8-6

A three-run home run in the eighth inning by catcher Joe Muraca helped Chapman College defeat Cal Lutheran, 8-6, in a nonleague game at Cal Lutheran.
Muraca’s blast off losing pitcher Bob Richmond (0-1) gave Chapman a 7-2 lead. CLC came back to score two runs in each of the final two innings but fell short.
Second baseman Jon Egertson led CLC with a home run and two singles while designated hitter Bob Ginther added two singles.
Jose Grijalua and Muraca each homered and singled for Chapman. Shortstop Ron Sargent added a double and two singles. Tom Chavez was the winning Chapman pitcher. Brian Peterson was credited with the save.
CLC fell to 4-2 this season while Chapman improved to 5-4.
