Pacific 10 Roundup : Harshman’s Last Home Game Is a 60-58 Win Over Arizona

In Coach Marv Harshman’s final home game, the Washington Huskies gave him career win No. 640--a 60-58 victory over Arizona Thursday night.

The loss, coupled with USC’s 80-78 win over UCLA, knocked the Wildcats out of first place in the Pacific 10 conference.

The Huskies and Wildcats are both 11-5 in conference, 20-8 overall.

With a 40-year career, Harshman is the winningest active coach in college basketball. He has coached the Huskies for the past 14 seasons.

Washington’s Detlef Schrempf led all scorers with 17 points and also led both teams with 12 rebounds.

Oregon State 54, Stanford 49--Center Steve Woodside and guard Eric Knox each scored 14 points as the Beavers held off the Cardinal at Corvallis, Ore.

The Beavers are 20-7, 10-5. Stanford is 11-14, 3-9.

It was the 599th career victory for Oregon State Coach Ralph Miller.

Oregon 70, California 53--Center Blair Rasmussen had 23 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Ducks at Eugene, Ore. The Ducks (14-14, 7-8) led, 12-2, after six minutes and were ahead, 35-20, at halftime. Freshman guard Anthony Taylor added 13 points for Oregon. Guard Kevin Johnson scored 14 points for Cal (12-13, 4-11).
