Eddie Elder, a Kansas State basketball player, believes college athletes should have five-year scholarships to earn a degree.

The challenge of trying to play competitive sports and still stay on top of your academics is one that most people are aware of, Elder said. “But they still don’t realize the time consumed by sports. You have to discipline yourself with good habits. That’s why I feel athletes should have a fifth year in their scholarships to get a degree.”
